Selika is fearless and determined to help her city. She has been a victim of crime and crime prevention is her number one priority. She's for enforcing law & order, increasing police patrol to deter crime, housing the unsheltered, investing in the youth, market rate paying jobs for residents with or without felonies, and clean & safe streets.
Selika was born and raised in East Oakland. After graduating from Fremont High in Oakland, she earned an AA degree in Science & Cosmetology from Laney College. Selika started her business installing sewn weaves for clients with hair loss.
Selika faces struggles common to Oakland residents at her East Oakland flat land home: home and car break-ins, attempted home invasions, abandoned cars, piles of trash, car chases, and homeless people living on her street. Selika decided to fight back by becoming block captain of her neighborhood and has resolved neighborhood problems directly with local city agencies, school administrators, and school board.
In 2018, Selika lost her little sister to gun violence in Oakland and now raises her 12-year-old nephew. In 2022, she lost her brother's dad- the man who helped raise her, Army Veteran Rodney Davis to a senseless gun violence in Oakland that made headline news. As a result, Selika advocates for cameras to be attached to shot spotters. These have reduced shootings by 43% in Chicago.
Selika will do whatever it takes to get the job done right. Believe in her.
Your support and contributions will help us meet our goals and fund our mission to help make Oakland safe and clean! Thank you.
